Welcome!

The purpose of this site is to provide the reader something more than just another we(blog) site.

The main structure of this site will initially begin as a blog, but soon will be more than just another drop in the blogosphere. In the future, Boiling Pot USA will also serve as a platform for online publishing of written, audio and video content in the future (or as the “learning curve” and budgetary constraints permit).

Why the name “Boiling Pot U.S.A.”?

Today, America is changing before our very eyes. However, most people never see change until it has already enveloped them and they are drowning in it!

America has always been known as “The Melting Pot” where many aspects of different cultures blended together to create a unique “whole society” that was Ronald Reagan’s “Shining City on the Hill”. The “melting pot” metaphor no longer applies to our American society of today.

In my first year of college, I took the usual literature course that is required of most college freshmen. One of the first works the class read was “The Power Elite”, by C. Wright Mills. The basic premise of the work is that American society is controlled by a few individuals in the business and political realms that “shape” and control most of the major policy decisions in the country. I initially disagreed with the author’s thesis, but statement that “age brings wisdom” is oh, so true!

In my educational (or indoctrination, if you will) experience, I was given the traditional view of America that was a product of the 1950’s. You know, Mom, apple pie, John Wayne and the cavalry riding to the rescue just in time. This was the popular myth we were all taught in my generation. The reality however, is not as neat and pretty as a Norman Rockwell painting.

I have always been the inquisitive type. About twelve years ago I started to REALLY look into what was happening with this country and you would be really surprised if you knew ALL that I know now. Let’s just say there are those that have “actively” tried to do me harm...and they receive their paychecks from the federal treasury!

However, there is one trend in American society that I am sure of and that is as a country we are no longer the “melting pot”...we have become “The Boiling Pot, U.S.A.”

I got the idea for the name for this web site from the story that when you try to throw a frog into a pot of boiling water, it knows it and tries to jump out. However, if you put the frog into a pot of cool water and slowly turn up the heat until boiling, the frog will cook and will be oblivious to what is happening to it. This story sums up perfectly what is happening in American society today...were are the frogs and someone’s hand is slowing raising the heat!

The areas explored on this site are politics, business, popular culture and whose hand is on the knob that is turning up the fire. This is one frog that won’t “croak”, but will be speaking out on things that need to be addressed!
